Sri Lanka receives humanitarian aid from 22 countries after Cyclone Ditwah

COLOMBO, Jan. 1 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka has received humanitarian assistance from 22 countries and the World Food Programme to support communities affected by Cyclone Ditwah, the country's Ministry of Defence said.

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has established a high-level committee to coordinate foreign relief supplies and ensure transparent and efficient distribution. The committee, chaired by Deputy Defence Minister Aruna Jayasekara, has met regularly to oversee operations, the ministry said.

Information on the distribution process is reported every three days to the Presidential Secretariat and the Prime Minister's Office, and updated information is released to the media. A formal audit will be conducted once the process is completed, the ministry said.
