Sri Lankan customs seizes first-ever batch of liquid cocaine

COLOMBO, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka's customs has for the first time seized a shipment of liquid cocaine, said a spokesperson on Wednesday.

Customs media spokesperson Seevali Arukgoda told media here that the drugs were discovered in a parcel sent from Britain to an address in Kiribathgoda in western Sri Lanka.

Officers found 65 grams of Kush cannabis, and 500 milliliters of what is believed to be liquid cocaine inside the package, he said.

The estimated street value of the seized drugs is approximately 13 million rupees (around 44,000 U.S. dollars), according to Arukgoda.

Authorities have also arrested a 23-year-old suspect employed in the tourism sector in connection with the case, he said.
