COLOMBO, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka's Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekara on Sunday said the increased new fuel quota will be available from midnight May 30.

Under the new scheme, three-wheelers can purchase up to 22 liters of fuel (up from 15 liters) per week, while motorcycles can purchase up to 14 liters (up from 7 liters), said Wijesekara.

Buses can purchase up to 125 liters (up from 60 liters), cars up to 40 liters (up from 30 liters), and other land vehicles can purchase up to 45 liters (up from 25 liters).

Meanwhile, lorries can purchase up to 125 liters (up from 75 liters), and quadricycles can purchase up to 14 liters (up from 6 liters).

Sri Lanka has been rationing fuel since mid-2022 following fuel shortages caused by foreign reserve shortages.
