HANOI -- Police of northern Vietnam's Lai Chau province have arrested a local man for trafficking 12 cakes of heroin, Vietnam News Agency reported on Wednesday.

COLOMBO -- Sri Lanka received 160 million U.S. dollars from the World Bank on Tuesday, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said in parliament on Wednesday.

SEOUL -- The U.S. military base in Yongsan, located in the heart of the South Korean capital Seoul, part of which the U.S. Forces Korea (USFK) has returned to South Korea, turned out to be full of carcinogens, a local broadcaster KBS reported Wednesday.
An investigation by the Ministry of Environment showed that the level of benzene and phenol, detected around the residences in the South Post, a part of the Yongsan garrison which the USFK returned in February, was respectively 3.4 times and 2.8 times higher than the standard required for a park. ISLAMABAD -- A government official was killed and his two colleagues were injured in a firing on their vehicle in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Wednesday, sources said.
The incident happened in the provincial capital of Peshawar when the two injured were riding in the private vehicle of the killed official, sources told Xinhua on condition of anonymity. (Pakistan-Attack-Death)
